COMPARISON

GTAFPV vs VelociDrone

VelociDrone is the serious racing simulator — it is what competitive pilots practise on and it has actual leagues behind it. We have six tracks and server-authoritative leaderboards, and it would be easy to write a page implying those are the same thing. They are not, and the difference matters if racing is why you are here.

WHAT WE HAVE

Things a simulator structurally cannot do

A whole living city, not a map

Every simulator ships hand-built arenas — a warehouse, a bando, a gate layout. However good they are, you learn them. This is Los Santos and Blaine County entire: freeway undersides, flood channels, a downtown of real towers, mountains, docks, a working airport. With live traffic, pedestrians, weather and a day-night cycle, because it is built on a game that already simulates a city. The most interesting gap here is one nobody designed.

Tracks in real places, not on a field

Six authored courses with gates through underpasses, down flood channels, around the pier and out along cargo lanes. Gate order, live splits and the delta against your own personal best sit on the HUD while you fly, and every time lands on a server-side board.

The world is doing something, and none of it is AI

A drift meet trading the same corner under coloured neon, jet skis running the coast, stunt planes making passes over the airport. Every one is a recording of a run a person actually flew or drove, replayed on a clock every client shares — so it moves the way a person moves, because a person moved it. They are solid, too: misjudge a gap and you wreck.

Free, and nothing is ever locked

Every airframe is available on your first flight. Progression is a record of what you have flown, never a gate on what you may fly — that is written into the project's binding design rules rather than left to good intentions. Nothing purchasable affects flight, scoring or a competitive result.

WHERE VELOCIDRONE WINS

Things we are not going to pretend about

Competitive racing, properly

Leagues, official track packs, a racing community and the tooling that comes with all of it. We have courses and boards; we are not a league and we are not trying to become one.

Flight fidelity and muscle-memory transfer

They are right and we do not compete. GTAFPV is arcade by design — tuned to feel good in a city, not to rehearse your quad. Each airframe has its own thrust-to-weight and drag set against measurable references, so it is tuned rather than default, but it is not a training tool and we will not pretend otherwise. If you are practising for a race, practise there.

Runs on a laptop, offline, anywhere

A simulator needs nothing but itself. We need your own copy of GTA V, the FiveM Enhanced client and a connection to a server. That is a real cost and it is the reason to keep a simulator installed alongside this.

So which one should you use?

If you race, or you want to race, use VelociDrone — that is the whole product and it is good at it. Fly here when you want the timer to stop being the point.

Claims about VelociDrone on this page describe what the product is and what it is best at, last checked 2026-07-30. We deliberately do not publish their pricing or feature lists here, because those change without telling us. If something on this page is out of date or unfair, tell us and it gets corrected.

OTHER COMPARISONS

Try it against whatever you already fly

Two minutes on the trainer is a fair test and we are happy to be judged on it. It is free, nothing is locked, and most pilots here keep a simulator installed as well.
