Getting flying, and fixing the things that stop you.

Flying FPV in GTA V needs two installs and a radio, and only one part of it reliably goes wrong. Everything below is written for someone who has not done this before.

How to fly an FPV drone in GTA V

  1. 1

    Own GTA V Enhanced

Enhanced is the remastered release. If you already own GTA V on Steam or Rockstar, it is a free upgrade in your library rather than a second purchase — check before you buy anything.

  2. 2

Install FiveM for GTA V Enhanced — not Legacy

They are two separate clients and they cannot cross-play. Installing Legacy gets you something that can never connect to this server, and the failure looks like the server being down rather than like the wrong client.

  3. 3

Plug in a radio, or a gamepad

Any XInput-class controller works natively. A DJI FPV controller needs a one-time bridge — that is what the guide below is for. A gamepad is a genuinely fine place to start if you do not own a radio yet.

  4. 4

    Connect, then type /drone

No tutorial gate, no loadout screen, no unlock. If you have never flown FPV, /setup binds your sticks with live axis bars so you can see what the radio is actually sending, and the Checkride walks you through a structured first hour.

Written guides

One guide so far, covering the problem that actually stops people. If something else here cost you an evening, say so in the Discord — the next guide gets written from what people are stuck on, not from a keyword list.

Or just try it

Nothing above needs finishing before you fly. Connect, type /drone, and come back to the controller guide only if your sticks feel like switches.
